Berlin lies on the Spree and Havel rivers and is honeycombed with waterways that can be navigated by tourist boats. Visitors can travel through the inner city this way, seeing a blend of historical and new buildings and famous sights, parks and gardens in a combination that can be new even for Berliners. The boats also go south to the Wannsee or Müggelsee, where the visitor can enjoy the idyllic view along the banks. Berlin is the greenest metropolis in Europe and has 1,700 bridges – more even than the lagoon city of Venice. The season 2012 starts in the middle of March with the first tours, further tours will follow in April and May.
