Since June 2007, one can see at the Bröhan-Museum a new representation of the rich stock from the time of the French Art Deco. On display are items out of different materials and techniques, among them silver, furniture, textiles, glass, and porcelain. After 1920, especially in France, a last great epoch style developed, which reflected the changed sense of time of a new generation. More and more predominantly became a geometric design vocabulary, borrowed from the cubistic-constructivist art. Similar to Art Nouveau (in German: Jugendstil), Art Deco became visible in decorative arts. The epoch style "Art Deco" was named after the great international art and crafts fair "Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes" (1925). Art Deco was a style of a period, an epoch of holistic high artistic values. It was here and now and decorative art between two world wars.
