Literaturhaus Berlin

Who says that reading is a solitary activity? This certainly isn’t the case in the Literaturhaus Berlin, where literature is experienced communally. Here, you’ll find a mix of people who love books and the authors that write them, listen to the voices together, let the words come alive and follow their imaginations.

The dignified, atmospheric villa is the perfect setting to enjoy literature in. It’s not about being hip and wild and following the latest trends, but rather simply discovering and creating good texts. An event that remains vivid in my memory happened one evening many years ago, when a group of older (very, very old) men from the OULIPO group were guests in the Literaturhaus. They recited a text which they had created over the weekend and had an incredibly enjoyable time playing with words and all of the possibilities that they present. I’ve never experienced anything like it.
