Watch the future being made
It’s Berlin’s biggest building project: a construction site that’s the size of 2,000 football fields with countless cranes and machines as well as thousands of workers. 2.5 billion euros have been invested in this operation. The Berlin-Brandenburg Airport, or BER, is one of Berlin’s most important projects for the future.
It is now possible to follow this development of the future live. Standing 32 metres high, the BER information tower offers visitors all sorts of information as well as a breathtaking view over the bustle of the construction site and into the future. If you look through the 3D telescope on the tower’s platform, you’ll see what the airport will look like upon its completion. That’s still a bit far off, so in the meantime you can take a bus tour around the construction site. With all of the floodlights over the site, the night bus tours have a sort of technical romanticism to them.
If this isn’t enough, you can spend an entire day at the airport during the summer holidays. Kids and adults can look at the construction site as well as the current features of the airport’s operations. These features include its fire department, the Lufthansa maintenance hangar and a helicopter.
