Data protection
It is our priority to ensure that your personal data is properly protected when using our website. The following declaration gives you an overview of how we guarantee this protection and which type of data is stored for what purpose.
The responsible agency within the definition of the Data Protection Act is Berlin Berlin Tourismus & Kongress GmbH, Am Karlsbad 11, D-10785 Berlin, represented by Burkhard Kieker (Managing Director).

Recording and processing of personal data
Every time our website is accessed and each time data is retrieved from it, information relating to this access is stored in a log file held on our provider's server. Each dataset contains details of:
We cannot technically attribute this data to particular persons. This data will not be merged with other sources of data; the data moreover will be deleted following a statistical analysis and will not be retained as a single dataset. Each dataset contains details of:
• your internet service provider company,
• the website from which the file was requested,
• the name of the file,
• the date and the time of the request,
• the amount of data transmitted,
• the access status (files relayed, file not found etc.),
• a description of the type of browser used,
• the dynamic IP address.

Every time our website is accessed and each time data is retrieved from it, statistical IP addresses will also be automatically logged and stored in a log file on the server. In some circumstances statistical IP addresses can enable inferences about the identity of the user to be made.Berlin Tourismus & Kongress GmbH does not perform analyses of this type nor does it use such data for its own advertising purposes or enable it to be so used by any third party.
Personal data will be collected if you make bookings, subscribe to our newsletter or if you wish to use certain functions on our website. Detailed information relating to the type and extent of the data recorded can be found on the relevant pages. We will only use any personal information communicated by you for that purpose for which you provided it to us.

Retention
Your data will be retained and stored as long as is required for the provision of our services or for retention periods stipulated by way of statutory or other legal obligations.

Right to information and withdrawal of consent
You are at all times entitled to be provided with information regarding your personal stored information and to inspect it. If this data is not correct, you are entitled to demand that it be corrected.

If you do not wish to have your data stored, you may at any time withdraw your consent by informing us by letter or email. Your withdrawal of consent will be effective for all future storage. Your data will be deleted in accordance with your withdrawal of consent. Excluded from this is all data which cannot be deleted due to statutory and/or contractual compulsory retention periods. Also excluded from this is that data which we require for the formation, material arrangement or amendment of the contractual relationship or which has to be stored for billing purposes.

Use and communication of personal data
If you place a booking via the Berlin Tourismus & Kongress GmbH website, where necessary we will relay your data to other companies or organisations, e.g. the hotel to which your booking relates. Such companies may as a rule only use your data for processing the contract/order.

To the extent that you have expressly consented to the use of your data by third party companies in partnership withBerlin Tourismus & Kongress GmbH for purposes over and beyond the processing of your contract/order, such companies will, for market research purposes, likewise be entitled to send you advertising customised to your personal profile and/or to use your data. These specifically concern ad server and web analysis providers.
Our current partners in this area are DoubleClick and nugg.ad. In this respect the processing and use of this data is subject to the data protection regulations of the respective partners. You are entitled at all times to be informed as to what personal data of yours is stored and relayed by us to third parties. You may also at any time withdraw your consent in this regard. Berlin Tourismus & Kongress GmbH will relay your withdrawal of consent immediately to its respective partners.

Your personal data will otherwise not be relayed to any third parties, unless in exceptional cases where we are compelled to do so by way of statutory provisions or governmental order.

Use of cookies
We use cookies to improve the visual appearance of our website and to enable the use of certain functions. These cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer. The majority of cookies we use are deleted from your hard drive after the relevant browser session is ended (session cookies). Other cookies remain stored on your computer and enable us to recognise your computer upon your next visit (permanent cookies).

When you visit our webpages, cookies are used to identify the areas that interest you, such as the type of articles you read or your user frequency (number of pages accessed on a given day). We use cookies in these cases to optimise the advertising that is displayed to a particular user. The benefit of this includes the reduction of the repetition of advertiser in favour of the user thereby increasing the quality of the advertising delivered. All cookies used by us are fully anonymised and do not contain any of your personal data. They are based on the provisions of the Informationsgemeinschaft zur Feststellung der Verbreitung von Werbeträgern e. V. (IVW – German association for determining the reach of advertising media). Neither we nor or customers are able to link general information about relevant advertising target groups with particular persons.
Internet browsers are pre-configured to accept cookies. However the user may block the storage of cookies or configure his/her browser so that he/she will always be asked before cookies are relayed.

Opt-out /Opt-in function
If you do not wish us to use cookies in your case, you may turn this off.
Choosing to turn off tracking cookies will cause an “opt-out cookie” to be placed on your system. If at some time you choose to delete all your cookies, you should note that the opt-out cookie will also be deleted and must be renewed as required.
We currently use two cookies for optimising the delivery of advertising materials. One of these is nugg.ad AG and the other is DoubleClick, a technology provider.

Summaries and material changes will not be made before we have consulted with you. We are not obligated to publish.
